Speed monitors switched on Air France jets
PARIS - Air France has finished replacing air speed monitors on all its long-haul Airbus aircraft even though the cause of the Flight 447 disaster remains a mystery, a pilots' union official said Monday.

Crews find vertical stabilizer in Air France crash
RECIFE, Brazil - Search crews recovered the vertical stabilizer from the tail section of an Air France airliner that went down in the Atlantic, Brazil's air force said Monday -- a key find that could help locate its black boxes and determine why the jet crashed. Eight more bodies also were found, bringing the total recovered to 24 since Air France Flight 447 disappeared with 228 people on board, according to Air Force Col. Henry Munhoz.

Vast search of Atlantic Ocean for Air France jet
RIO DE JANEIRO - An Air France jet with 228 people on a flight to Paris vanished over the Atlantic Ocean after flying into towering thunderstorms and sending an automated message that the electrical system had failed. A vast search began Monday, but all aboard were feared killed.

Alitalia seals accord with Air France: Alitalia board
ROME (AFP) - Italian airline Alitalia will sell Air France-KLM a 25 percent stake for 323 million euros under a cooperation accord, Alitalia officials said Monday, paving the way for a revamped Alitalia to begin operations on Tuesday.
