Chinese car maker Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. (0175.HK) is considering whether to make cars in the United States, its chairman and founder said on Thursday. Geely had previously announced a plan to sell cars in the United States as early as 2008. "We could do that in several ways, and (U.S. production) is an option," Li Shufu told Reuters in an interview. Geely may also ship cars to the U.S. market from China, Li added without elaborating. He said Geely aimed to export nearly 20,000 cars this year, mostly to developing countries, and that exports could double in 2007. Previously, the company had set an export target for this year of 10,000 cars.
