Peet Takes Matrimonial Plunge
2006-10-01
Sure she might be in one of the fall season's most lauded TV shows, but Amanda Peet starred in a bigger production this weekend: her wedding. The star of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and screenwriter David Benioff tied the knot in their native New York on Saturday, two weeks after announcing that they were expecting their first child together. Peet, 34, and her 36-year-old beau swapped vows in a ceremony held at the Friends Seminary, a Quaker school and the actress' alma mater. Guests included Mark Ruffalo and Elizabeth Berkley with their respective spouses. "It was beautiful," Ruffalo told People of the nuptials. The black-tie affair was followed by a reception at Chelsea Art Museum, per Us Weekly. Peet, whose résumé also includes Syriana and The Whole Nine Yards, and Benioff, who penned Troy and 25th Hour, met four years ago on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. The couple announced their intention to get hitched last July. And just like Peet's new NBC series, her impending matrimony had their share of advance buzz. Peet spilled the beans on The Late Show with David Letterman last Wednesday. "I have been having recurring nightmares about, not the ceremony, but the party," she said. "I go to the bathroom and I come back to the party and everyone's gone. Except for some, everyone's dispersed…And another one where the band just didn't show up so everyone got bored. "And I was begging musicians that I know to just play.'Play something!' " Luckily for Peet's piece of mind, her reception, which per Us featured the music of Dexter Lane Club, went off without a hitch. Peet wore a strapless white dress with a black sash and carried a bouquet of roses, according to Us and was "glowing," Ruffalo told the magazine, even though she's four months' pregnant. Which must have come as a relief to Peet, who fretted about her burgeoning belly during her Late Show appearance. "Aaron Sorkin is convinced I have a five-year-old in here or twins or something," she said. "All they do is call me fatty and whenever I'm not on set they're like, 'Check craft services--she's probably over stuffing herself again.' " It's the first marriage for both. Muzi.com News
