Brian De Palma to make Iraq movie: report
2007-01-30
Veteran director Brian De Palma has become the latest film-maker to make a movie about the war in Iraq, media reported. De Palma, 66, will write and direct "Redacted," which will be a montage of stories about US troops fighting in the conflict, movie industry daily Variety reported. No cast members have yet been confirmed for the film, which will begin shooting in Jordan in the spring, the report said. DePalma, the director of cinematic landmarks such as "Scarface" and "The Untouchables," is one of several film-makers who are working on or have recently completed films about Iraq. Oscar-nominated British director Paul Greengrass is currently set to helm a movie version of Washington Post journalist's Rajiv Chandrasekaran's book, "Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone". Meanwhile at last week's Sundance Film Festival, the Iraq movie "Grace is Gone" starring John Cusack scooped the audience prize and a jury prize for screenwriting.
