Federer and Henman kick off day four
2007-06-28
Wimbledon champion Roger Federer will have to complete unfinished business on Thursday after his second round match against Argentine Juan Martin del Potro was suspended following a downpour over southwest London. The Swiss world number one was leading 6-2 7-5 2-0 when the players had to scurry back into the locker room at 1543 GMT. Local hope Tim Henman was also frustrated after he managed only two games against Spanish serve and volleyer Feliciano Lopez. Nadal, the French Open champion seeded to meet Federer in the final, will be in action against Werner Eschauer. In the women's draw, holder Amelie Mauresmo will be seeking a quick passage into the third round as she has yet to recover from a right thigh strain. The disrupted schedule means she has been put on Court Two, often dubbed graveyard of the champions, starting late in the day. She pulled out of the women's doubles as a precaution and is due to face 98th-ranked Yvonne Meusburger from Austria. Former champions Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams will also be eyeing places in the last 32. Second seed Sharapova should not face too many hurdles in overcoming Severine Bremond and Williams should also stay on track for a possible fourth round showdown against the Russian when she takes on Hana Sromova.
