Time Warner Inc. is expected to rake in a large audience with Friday's debut of "The Brave One," a thriller starring Jodie Foster.

In the film, Foster stars opposite Terrence Howard, and plays a radio reporter who is brutally mugged in an encounter that leaves her seriously injured and her lover dead. The flick is playing on at least 2,000 screens nationwide.

BMO Capital Markets Jeffrey Logsdon, in a client note, said the film should take in between $15 million and $20 million.

Also, Hoskins expects another Time Warner film, "Mr. Woodcock," to take in no more than $10 million. The film stars Sean William Scott, who learns his mother, played by Susan Sarandon, has fallen for his tyrannical high school gym teacher, played by Billy Bob Thornton.

Action flick "Dragon Wars" is expected to take in under $10 million, Hoskins said.

Also opening Friday are films "Eastern Promises," "The Hunting Party," "Across the Universe," among others.

Logsdon said last weekend's No. 1 film was "3:10 To Yuma," which brought in $14.1 million.

Logsdon said third-quarter domestic box office sales have risen 14.7 percent so far, with attendance rising between 9 percent and 10 percent.

So far this year, box office sales have risen 7.5 percent to $7.05 billion.

"A number of summer films continue to generate significant gross overseas, which is adding nicely to their domestic totals," Logsdon wrote.
