Browns sign Stallworth to seven-year contract
2008-03-02
Wide receiver Donte' Stallworth has signed a seven-year contract with the Cleveland Browns, the NFL team said on Saturday. Financial terms were not announced but local media reported it as being worth $35 million, with $10 million guaranteed. "Donte' will be the major addition to our offense this year," Browns general manager Phil Savage said in a statement. "He will bring legitimate speed ...and playmaking ability to the receiving corps and add a different dimension to the skill players we already have in place." The 27-year-old six-year NFL veteran has 279 career receptions with 31 touchdowns. He played the first four seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints, spent the 2006 season with the Philadelphia Eagles and last year with the AFC champion New England Patriots. Stallworth had 46 catches and three touchdowns last season with New England. (Writing by Steve Ginsburg in Washington; Editing by Greg Stutchbury)
