Boy band creator Pearlman to be sentenced in Fla.
2008-05-21
The man who created the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync is scheduled to be sentenced in Florida on four federal charges. Lou Pearlman faces up to 25 years in prison and $1 million in fines. He pleaded guilty in March to two counts of conspiracy, money laundering and using false statements in a bankruptcy proceeding. His sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday. Pearlman is most famous for piecing together boy bands in the '90s that sold millions of records. But prosecutors allege he bilked investors and banks out of more than $300 million in a decades-long investment scam.
