Oscar winner Swank undergoes surgery for benign tumor
2008-09-18
LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank underwent surgery to remove a benign tumor, People magazine reported Thursday, quoting her manager. The star of "Million Dollar Baby," 34, was "experiencing some discomfort and went to see her doctor, who prescribed an immediate course of action that included a brief hospitalization to remove a small, benign growth," People quoted her manager Jason Weinberg as saying. "Her condition has been resolved and there are no continuing health issues, with the exception of some short-term rest and recuperation," he told the magazine. Swank won a pair of best actress Academy Awards before the age of 30, in 2000 for "Boys Don't Cry" and in 2005 for her role as a boxer trained by Clint Eastwood's character in "Million Dollar Baby."
