WASHINGTON - Metro officials say normal service has resumed on the city's subways after a woman fell on the tracks at a downtown station.
Officials say the 68-year-old woman fell on the tracks Tuesday morning at the Gallery Place station on the red line. Earlier, officials said she had been hit by a train, but they later said she was not hit. She has been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The closure forced people to walk further to reach the National Mall.
