Harrison Ford to star at Deauville American film fest
2009-07-22
DEAUVILLE, France (AFP) - "Indiana Jones" and "Star Wars" icon Harrison Ford will be guest of honour at this year's American film festival in the posh French resort of Deauville, organisers said Wednesday. "Amelie" director Jean-Pierre Jeunet is chair of the jury for the 35th edition of the annual seaside bash, which opens September 3 and ends 10 days later with the award of the festival's Grand Prize and Jury Prize. Big-name stars set to walk the seaboard at Deauville also include Meryl Streep and Andy Garcia, while "Forrest Gump" star Robin Wright Penn is to receive a special tribute from the festival. Deauville will also pay a posthumous hommage to Robert Aldrich, the US director of World War II flick "The Dirty Dozen" and the chilling "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane." Aldrich died in 1983. Last year's top prize at Deauville went to Tom McCarthy's "The Visitor," a New York-set social drama about illegal immigration.
