Russia, Ukraine seek to end gas feud at Yalta
YALTA, Ukraine (AFP) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was to hold rare talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Yulia Tymoshenko on Thursday aimed at preventing a repeat of last winter's gas crisis.

Gazprom profits plunge 49.8%
MOSCOW (AFP) - Russian energy giant Gazprom, the world's biggest gas firm, said on Monday that net profit plunged 49.8 percent in the first half of 2009 compared to the figure 12 months earlier owing to higher expenses.
