China's 'Super Girls' Li Yuchun performs during a concert in the people's stadium in Beijing Sunday Oct. 9, 2005. The contestants in the'American Idol' style singing contest in China have set a record for the fastest-selling concert tickets. The frenzy surrounding the Super Girls and the show sent groups of fans out purchasing posters of their favorite contestants and created a mini industry in 'Super Girl' knickknacks. The show made Chinese television history when it drew more viewers than the biggest annual TV even of the year, the Spring festival Gala. |
