Red Wings shut out Predators to win quarter-final series

The Detroit Red Wings shut out the Nashville Predators 3-0 to win their Western Conference quarter-final series 4-2 on Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee. Veteran netminder Chris Osgood blanked the Predators, making 20 saves. It was the 11th career playoff shutout and 58th overall for the 35-year-old Canadian. Nicklas Lidstrom, Jiri Hudler and Brian Rafalski scored goals for Western Conference champion Detroit, who had the NHL's best regular-season record. Lidstrom delivered a short-handed goal 13:44 into the second period and Hudler scored 3:52 into the third. Rafalski added an empty-netter with five seconds remaining in the game.
