The Detroit Red Wings earned a convincing 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Thursday in the opening game of the Western Conference finals.

Finn Valtteri Filppula made it 4-0 before Brendon Marrow scored late in the second for the sixth-seeded Stars, who were unable to stop Detroit picking up their seventh successive win in the post-season.
