Asian Americans Forming Coalition Behind Lee, NY Times Says

Washington - More than a dozen Asian- American organizations are forming a coalition to support indicted nuclear scientist Wen Ho Lee because of worries his Chinese descent led him to be unfairly singled out, the New York Times reported, citing Asian-American leaders including Henry Tang, chairman of the Committee of 100 -- an organization of Chinese-American leaders -- and a leader of the coalition. The coalition will raise money for Lee's defense, analyze the case against him and speak out against any unfair treatment, though the full extent of the coalition's plans are not yet certain, the N.Y. Times said, citing Tang. Lee was indicted Friday on charges that he improperly removed U.S. nuclear secrets from the Los Alamos Nuclear Laboratory in New Mexico, the N.Y.
